[Being a study of the enigmatic and advanced Callaran race]

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Codex: Callarans, a book dedicated to the Callaran race.

Overview of the Callarans

The Callarans are an ancient race from another galaxy.  Their customs, weaponry, physique - indeed, everything about them - is alien to the Imperium of Mankind.  Their warriors are like their poets and artists:   silent and graceful, performing their art with a cold calculation that is totally inhuman.

The Callarans' Empire spans hundreds of star systems on the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy.  They are beset upon by many foes: the Necrons, the Tyranids, the Orks, Chaos...  They have survived through a combination of their own resilience and their relationship with the Imperium of Mankind.

The Callaran Empire's relationship with the Imperium is at the same time one of peace and war.  While some of the Imperium's Space Marine chapters and Imperial Guard regiments are in a state of peace with the Callarans and often ally with them, other chapters and regiments are in a constant state of war with the Callarans.  This has sometimes brought about the situation of Imperial forces fighting Imperial forces.

Even though they have many foes in this galaxy, the Callarans are determined to stay here.  And they are slowly expanding their Empire within it every year.

Why Collect A Blood Axe Army

Collecting a Callaran army can be a fun, unique, and exciting experience.  Since their are no official models out for them, you can go all out with your modelling.  A Callaran army presents the modeller with a good set of challenges, both in modelling and painting, as Callaran warriors always wear ornate armour with beautiful designs.

The Callaran army is a balanced army, but will be a bit of a challenge to play.   The core troops are cheap enough, but elite troops in a Callaran army are often expensive.  Their skills are deadly, but their cost is high enough that you will only be able to afford a few of them, and so you must get the squads that are best suited to your playing style.  A Callaran army will work with any playing style, be it a firepower army, a close combat army, or a combination of the two.
